S50 - Einen Plan kriegen

S50 - Getting a plan

If you print the kite in more recent Versions of Foilmaker (1.5.3) you have to set the skin tension tapper in the nose on "0" and the tail from 70% with a maximum of 1.2 %. Centre of lift on 25%".

At first you have to start Foilmaker with the S50 .kte file (c.f. my Links). Attention: the file is made using Foilmaker 1.4.1, in more recent versions of the program you have to do some adjustments. Since I used 1.4.1 myself, his tips meant nothing to me, so I only cite Sieger's words: "If you print the kite in more recent Versions of Foilmaker (1.5.3) you have to set the skin tension tapper in the nose on "0" and the tail from 70% with a maximum of 1.2 %. Centre of lift on 25%".

The profiles, the diags, the upper and the lower panels are then printed to standard paper sizes (I used A4). There are about 360 pages to be printed, so a laser printer is definitely recommended.

Since I tried to mark the drawings through the fabric, I made sure to have a real black printout (new toner).

The printed sheets were cut at the cutting marks on one side. I either used a big paper cutter or a small paper knife with a stell ruler, both works perfectly.

All the sheets belonging to one part of the kite then where glued together using a paper glue stick.

The vents were glued to the lower panels, marking a diagonal line through them for to get appropriate vents.

The first long evening was spent with the junkie (6-8 hours).
